Yaou Ren focuses his practice on intellectual property, particularly in the life sciences industry. He is part of a team that counsels a diverse collection of businesses, educational institutions, and nonprofits on trademarks, patents, copyrights, and other areas of intellectual property.
Yaou received his law degree from Georgia State University. While in law school, he participated and successfully competed in patent drafting competitions, receiving first place at the National Patent Drafting Competition hosted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also served as the vice president of the Intellectual Property Law Society and earned a certificate in intellectual property law.
In addition to his JD, Yaou earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Florida International University. He uses his background in the life sciences and his scientific experience to analyze and understand inventions relating to biotechnologies and pharmaceuticals, assisting clients both in protecting their inventions and in defending against allegations of infringement. Yaou is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
