Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Anthony Fox has been honored as a Legal Legend of Color by the North Carolina Bar Association. Anthony was recognized for the significant impact of his legal career in North Carolina, as well as for demonstrating a high level of service to his community.

For more than 30 years, Anthony has been representing municipalities in North Carolina, from Wilmington to Asheville. He has developed vast knowledge of North Carolina’s state, municipal, and public-private partnership legal landscape. He is also a past president of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Attorneys and remains involved with that organization. Through his legal work, he has helped local governments across the state better serve North Carolinians.

Anthony has also shown a deep dedication to serving the Charlotte community and the state as a whole. Governors and mayors of both major political parties have appointed him to local and state boards and commissions, including the City of Charlotte’s Airport Commission and the North Carolina Banking Commission. He has served as chair of the United Way of Central Carolinas and the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, vice chair of the Charlotte Citizens Review Board, general counsel of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, and director and secretary of the Mecklenburg County Bar. He has also served on the boards of directors or trustees of the Belk Foundation, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, the North Carolina Turnpike Authority, and Queens University.

At Parker Poe, Anthony was the first African American to serve on the firm’s board of directors. Today, he continues advising cities and towns on a range of issues, from defending their positions on complex legal matters like annexation, zoning, construction, and land use disputes, to shaping public-private developments or structuring municipal acquisitions.
