Now that the U.S. House of Representatives has passed a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package, the action moves to the U.S. Senate this week. The package will not make it through in its current form, as the Senate’s rule-keeper has said the House’s provision increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour is unworkable under the budget reconciliation process.

The Senate will also work through President Joe Biden’s nominations to head the Department of Education and the Department of Commerce this week. And a bipartisan group of senators is working on legislation to increase clean energy manufacturing and help workers at former fossil fuel sites transition to new jobs.
