Josh Umbarger is an experienced litigator who focuses his practice on construction. He is part of a team representing all participants in the construction field, including owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, architects, engineers, construction managers, and surety/fidelity companies. He has experience counseling and defending developers and contractors in various construction issues. Josh has litigated commercial, construction, contractual, and professional liability lawsuits.
Prior to his legal career, Josh was a training manager at a construction group serving the Southeast region. Josh developed and managed an employee training program encompassing OSHA, MSHA, and corporate policy compliance for more than 1,000 employees in this role. He also assisted in project management in planning, bid qualification, and employee recruitment and training. Before that, Josh was a project superintendent, managing subcontractors in the construction of single and multi-family homes.
Josh earned his law degree from the Charleston School of Law. Josh provides pro bono services through the Guardian ad Litem program, through which he represents abused and neglected children. He also volunteers with the Charleston County probate court’s adult guardianship assistance and monitoring program and other minor and adult programs.
