Sloan Carpenter focuses her practice on intellectual property rights and disputes. Sloan counsels clients on U.S. and international trademark search and clearance, prosecution, licensing, and enforcement. She also represents clients in federal and state courts, as well as before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Sloan is a leader within the North Carolina Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Section, serving on its council. She is also the section's trade secret chair. In addition, she serves on the International Trademark Association (INTA) Unreal Campaign Committee, which helps educate young consumers (ages 14–23) about the importance of trademarks and the dangers of counterfeit products.

Prior to joining Parker Poe, Sloan clerked for Judge R. Christopher Dillon on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. She uses her clerkship experience to develop litigation strategies for her clients.

Sloan received her JD from Campbell University School of Law in 2018, where she was the president of the Intellectual Property Law Society and a member of the National Trial Team. Prior to attending law school, Sloan earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill while working at a boutique intellectual property firm in the area.
