Stephen Gursky is a former prosecutor who focuses his practice on construction litigation. He is part of a team of attorneys who litigate an array of construction issues, including scheduling/delay disputes, design defects, disruption and productivity claims, construction defects, and contract disputes. He represents developers, homebuilders, contractors, and owners with the full range of their litigation needs, from pre-construction, construction, and post-construction issues.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, Stephen was a prosecutor with the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office in Beaufort, South Carolina, where he was responsible for handling over 600 criminal cases as assistant solicitor. Before that, Stephen was an attorney for a Charleston law firm, where he represented clients in business litigation, corporate transactions, and collections.
Stephen is an air defense artillery officer in the South Carolina Army National Guard, which he has served in for over 10 years. He currently commands a battery of air defense soldiers, where he is responsible for the unit’s readiness and effectiveness. He previously was a battalion liaison officer to multiple task forces during a deployment in the nation's capital.
Stephen earned a bachelor's degree from The Citadel in Charleston and a law degree from the Charleston School of Law.
