  • June 03, 2024

Washington, DC – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce the creation of Parker Poe Federal Strategies, a bipartisan lobbying practice in the nation's capital. It is led by Ken Preede, who has over 25 years of experience in Washington, DC, helping corporations and associations achieve their public policy priorities.

Ken and Parker Poe partner Bruce Thompson will work together to expand Parker Poe's government relations services through Parker Poe Federal Strategies. Bruce leads the law firm's Government & Public Policy Practice and has over 30 years of experience helping clients navigate the halls of government, including representing clients before Congress and the North Carolina General Assembly.

"Ken has a proven track record in our nation's capital of developing and advancing strategic plans for government affairs, both at for-profit and nonprofit organizations," Bruce said. "He has also become a trusted friend over our years working together. I am thrilled to collaborate with him in launching Parker Poe Federal Strategies and augmenting our presence in DC."

"I have seen firsthand the quality of Parker Poe's representation through my work with Bruce and the firm over the past 15 years," said Ken, a former government relations leader for a Fortune 500 company, a nationally recognized not-for-profit, and national associations. "I am excited to help the firm build a full-time lobbying practice here in DC and expand its services to clients involving Capitol Hill, federal agencies, and the administration."

Parker Poe Federal Strategies will provide services to clients in a variety of industries, with a focus on health care, local government, and higher education. Its services will include:

  • Designing and advancing advocacy and lobbying strategies at the federal and state levels, including collaborating with clients' executive, government affairs, public relations, and investor relations personnel to ensure all levels can effectively communicate key positions on Capitol Hill and with the executive branch.
  • Advising C-suite and executive leadership teams at for-profit and nonprofit clients on developing and directing strategic plans for government affairs and facilitating their interaction with congressional and administration policymakers.
  • Serving as the voice before government officials and advocating for or against legislation and regulation on behalf of clients.
  • Preparing clients to serve as witnesses before United States Senate and House of Representatives committees.

Ken and Bruce bring bipartisan perspectives to their work. Ken has held professional volunteer roles with high-profile Republican U.S. Senate campaigns and at several Republican National Conventions. Bruce has advised Democratic presidential and U.S. Senate campaigns.

Federal Strategies will be located at Parker Poe's office in Washington, DC. Ken is based there as a principal for Parker Poe Consulting. Bruce works from that office as well as Parker Poe's office in Raleigh, North Carolina.
