Bruce Thompson was quoted in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution about the ongoing funding challenges facing historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and the need for sustained federal support. Parker Poe has deep experience advising HBCUs across the Southeast. 

Bruce discussed the long history of presidential initiatives aimed at supporting HBCUs and the challenges of translating those announcements into lasting results. "Sometimes after proclamations get issued, you don’t always have the follow-up that you need. And that’s not targeted at this administration, that’s targeted at every White House," Bruce explained.

Bruce also noted that executive orders can help build momentum for congressional action but that meaningful progress ultimately depends on legislative follow-through.
