Andrew Lopez focuses on commercial lending, real estate, bankruptcy, and corporate law. He represents financial institutions, such as large institutional banks, regional banks, and private credit firms, as well as borrowers. He advises on a variety of transactions, including construction loans, term loans, lines of credit, acquisition and development loans, and asset-based loans.
Andrew has also represented financial institutions in corporate bankruptcy proceedings, creditors' rights, restructuring, and insolvency. He has negotiated workout solutions designed to avoid bankruptcy or foreclosure, such as loan modifications and forbearance agreements. He has also represented financial institutions in civil litigation arising out of mortgage-related disputes and other complex civil disputes. He is knowledgeable about lending laws and regulations, mortgage banking, foreclosures, REO property, default servicing, and compliance functions.
Andrew currently serves on the board of advisors of the UNC Center for Banking and Finance. Andrew formerly served on the board of directors of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association and Wayfinders, which provides year-round mentoring and enrichment activities for public school students whose families have limited financial resources.
