Ashley Akins focuses her practice on education law, representing K-12 school districts and private education entities. She actively litigates and counsels clients on matters of student discipline, special education, FERPA compliance, fair dismissal, workers' compensation, and various student due process issues.
Ashley often conducts in-person training to special education and related service providers on all aspects of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. She also assists clients in developing and revising risk management policies and procedures.
Ashley has served on the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Georgia’s Young Lawyer Division since 2016, and she is a frequent volunteer for pro bono cases with Atlanta Legal Aide.
