Blair Carpenter focuses her practice on commercial real estate finance. She represents financial institutions in a variety of transactions, such as construction loans, acquisition and development loans, term financing, and revolving credit facilities, advising clients on a range of property types including hotels, retail, office buildings, multifamily complexes, and self-storage facilities. Blair also represents financial institutions and businesses in purchasing, leasing, and selling real estate, and as a member of Parker Poe’s Corporate Leasing Team, she prepares lease abstracts, addendums, and assignments in connection with corporate acquisitions and mergers.
In addition, Blair advises funders, law firms, and companies in the evolving world of litigation finance, including helping clients obtain and structure litigation funding transactions for meritorious claims that may not be pursued otherwise because of litigation costs. She guides clients through the industry's complex, compressed timelines and deal-specific terms, distilling sophisticated transactions into user-friendly documents.
Blair maintains an active pro bono practice. She represents abused and neglected children through the North Carolina Guardian ad Litem appellate program, supports survivors of domestic violence by reviewing and drafting protective order pleadings through a partnership with Safe Alliance, and works with nonprofit organizations to prepare wills and other legal documents for low-income individuals in our community.
Blair earned her law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Davidson College. Before law school, she worked as a paralegal and in the nonprofit sector, gaining firsthand appreciation for the importance of compassion and competence in the legal field.
