Emily focuses her practice on professional negligence defense and regularly represents hospitals, physicians, nurses, other medical providers, and their insurers. Emily also assists healthcare professionals and facilities in responding to complaints or other disciplinary actions before state licensing boards and regulatory agencies. Emily’s experience includes representing clients in personal injury and wrongful death claims and insurance coverage disputes.
Before joining Parker Poe, Emily was an assistant district attorney in Mecklenburg County, where she conducted jury and bench trials in the prosecution of felony and misdemeanor offenses.
Before entering the legal field, Emily taught Language Arts at a Charlotte middle school with Teach for America. Emily serves on the Executive Board for the Charlotte ToolBank, a nonprofit lending program that provides charitable organizations with year-round access to an inventory of tools for use in volunteer projects, and is committed to supporting her community through pro bono assistance and volunteering.
