Laura Lashley advises clients on education policy and technology. She is a former educator who draws on her diverse experience in the industry to offer practical counsel, including in the areas of policy compliance and consultation, data privacy, employment, research, special education, strategic planning, and implementation of restructuring initiatives, such as charter systems. Her clients include K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and vendors who serve them.

Laura assists school districts with their educational technology needs by working with vendors to handle contract negotiations, procurements, and program implementation. She is a trusted advisor to her education clients in the rapidly evolving field of data privacy, helping them navigate students’ rights and clients’ responsibilities under federal and state law. She is recognized by the IAPP as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US), which is the gold standard for privacy professionals in America.

Laura is a former professor at Kennesaw State University in the Atlanta area, where she taught education law. She has served as legal counsel for the Georgia Charter Schools Commission. She is also a former high school teacher with Teach For America. Those experiences inform her counsel today and help her design and deliver impactful trainings and presentations to governing boards, employees, and community members on education law and policy topics for K-12 education and higher education.
