Michael advises on all aspects of originating and closing mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity investments involving commercial real estate. He has drafted and negotiated sophisticated financing mechanisms, and he has helped clients develop and implement pragmatic solutions to mitigate risk in the context of achieving their business goals. He also reviews title insurance, American Land Title Association and National Society of Professional Surveyors (ALTA/NSPS) surveys, and zoning reports to advise clients on issues associated with underlying real estate assets/collateral. Additionally, he has drafted and negotiated leases, easements, licenses, and other legal documents.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, Michael was a partner with one of the 100 largest global law firms. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, grilling, going to the gym, and spending time with his family (especially in the North Carolina mountains).
