Overview
In 1992, Parker Poe established its first South Carolina office in Spartanburg to serve existing clients and expand in the fast-growing Upstate region.
Today, the region continues its rapid growth, and Spartanburg is one of the most populous counties in the state. The local economy centers around manufacturing and the area is home to more than 350 facilities owned by national and international companies such as Milliken & Co., BMW Manufacturing, Michelin North America, and GE Power. Located in the heart of the I-85 business corridor, the Greenville-Spartanburg metro area has been recognized as one of the top five metropolitan areas for European expansion in the United States by USA Today, Businessweek, and Expansion Management magazine.
Spartanburg's reputation as an educational center stems from the five colleges, universities, and post-graduate institutions located within the county: Wofford College, Converse College, the University of South Carolina Upstate, Spartanburg Methodist College, and Spartanburg Community College.
